Tansi, Welcome to Black Sage. My name is Norman Ledoux. I was born and raised on the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada. During the winter months, we are at our tiny home at beautiful, mystical Haida Gwaii, British Columbia. From here, I source my hides such as deer and process my Buffalo and Elk during the summer when back in Saskatchewan. I gather my cedar from local mills to create my woodwork such as drum frames, etc. I gather my wood for my drumsticks and rattle handles from the beaches of Haida Gwaii and use stones from the local beaches for the rattles. I create one-of-a-kind traditional drums, rattles and flutes from material gathered from Haida Gwaii. I have been creating as long I can remember and take enjoyment in creations to bring positivity, happiness, smiles, healing and enjoyment into lives of someone who needs some. Please visit our Gallery or my Instagram @blacksagewoodworks to view some of my creations and Our Store for selections and prices. I look forward to hearing from you.
Nanaskomon,
Norman R Ledoux
I make very unique, wonderful sounding native drums in various sizes. Hide choices are Buffalo, Elk, Deer or Steer. We do have some native hand drums in stock and ready to ship , but Pow Wow drums are commission only. I also have some rattles (starting at $55) in stock and can create a custom one for you. If you are shopping for a hand drum, please visit Our Store and if you do not see what you desire, please contact us and I can custom build one for you.
If you just need a drum frame or hide, I can provide that also. I have frames in various sizes ready to ship. If you need drum repair such as re-stretching, new lacing or if the frame is warped, I can fix things up for you.
Please contact drums@blacksagewoodworks.com with any questions you may have.
Sustainability is at the heart of my work. I source all my materials responsibly, ensuring that each creation not only looks good but also respects the environment.
